Diagnosis: Thyroglossal Duct Cyst Omid Zargari, MD, FAAD: Thyroglossal duct cysts present as midline cystic nodules on the anterior neck in children or young adults. These cysts arise from remnants of the thyroglossal duct and characteristically move with swallowing. Treatment is surgical, but a thyroid scan is a need before the surgery, because sometimes these cysts are the only functioning thyroid tissue in the body.
